Working with Nile (Harpsona)
I would love to work with you to help bring live harp to your project! Regardless of scope or style, I am happy to hear from you to see how we can work together.
I provide quality recordings in a timely, well-organized manner and make adjustments as needed to ensure everyone is happy with the output.
This page details what I can do for and/or with you.
My Services
-
Record harp given sheet music and mock-up tracks
If you have sheet music and a mock-up (e.g., MIDI) with a click track, then I can record the harp part, composite all the best takes, and align it to match the provided audio.
This allows for an easy drag and drop of live harp recording into your project to replace the mock-up.
-
Record stems given vague direction and vibes
Do you consider yourself more of a producer than a composer? No sheet music? No problem!
I can record various stems to match what you’re looking for. Just provide the feel, rough tempo, and any chords or key signatures you want included. I will provide a variety of organized stems with descriptions and iterate as needed.
-
Compose short harp pieces for...
Working on a short animation or video project (e.g., commercial)? Want harp music for it? Look no further!
From mysterious to sorrowful, from ethereal to hopeful, I can compose and record something with the harp to fit a storyboard. To bring in more instruments and sounds, I am happy to collaborate with others.
-
Provide feedback on written harp parts
Planning on working with a local harpist, but want someone to review the readability and provide feedback on what may or may not work well for the harpist?
I can annotate the sheet music, suggest changes, and provide general feedback to help improve your harp writing.
-
Record electric harp with effects
Although I primarily work with my acoustic, concert grand Lyon & Healy Style 11 pedal harp, I also can record with my Cassista ClearTones 30 electric harp.
If you need a unique sound, look no further! I can record with different effects pedals, similar to what you may do with an electric guitar. My pedal collection is small, but I am happy to expand it.
-
Experiment with mic config and placement
To get a full sound, as of 2023, I have been recording with 3 mics. Two Rode NT1-A condenser mics positioned close to the column and to the side of the harp, as well as an Izotope Spire Studio gen 2 omni-directional condenser mic positioned further away to capture more room sound.
Want different placements or config? Just let me know!
